Vic Fuentes is the first child of a musical family, the Fuentes family. His father is a former Mexican jazz musician and his brother is Mike Fuentes, another musician in the group, Pierce the Veil. He is also a relative of Nick Martin, who plays professionally for Sleeping with Sirens.
He was born on February 10, 1983 as an American although he has Mexican ancestry through his father, Victor Gamboa Fuentes and Vivian K Fuentes, his mother. The son of a musician, he was introduced to music and instruments quite early in his life. Vic Fuentes was a guitarist at the age of 7.
His formal education saw him attend Mission Bay High School with his brother, Mike. After graduating, he was admitted to San Diego State University to study graphic design. Before deciding to answer his calling for music, Fuentes towed the Formal Education Channel for two semesters in San Diego before retiring to form a band called Before Today. . His decision to drop out of school proved successful as the band was signed to Equal Vision Records shortly after forming.
Although it might be mistaken to think that VicFuentes started his life after finishing school, he started playing in a band as early as high school in a local punk head band called 3 Simple Words. After 3 simple words, he and his brother, Mike formed a musical duo called Early Times. The duo released three extended projects before their rising profile forced them to change their name to Before Today. After the renowned group signed with Equal Vision Records, they released an album, Celebration of an Ending, which turned out to be their only one. The album was released in 2004.
Vic Fuentes’ current band Pierce the Veil was formed in 2007. For their debut, they released an album, A Flair for the Dramatic. The band followed up the hit album with two more, Selfish Machines and Collision With The Sky. Their well-received albums have taken them on tour across multiple continents including South America, Europe, Asia and North America.
As the singer and rhythm guitarist of the band, Vic Fuentes has performed with other rock bands like All Time Low, Sleeping with Sirens, Tonight Alive and A Day to Remember. Vic and his brother Mike were also part of a group of renowned artists consisting of Brian Southall, Nick Martin, Johnny Craig and a few others. The band was called Isles & Glaciers and only released one record.
One of Vic’s career highlights is a song he wrote for his girlfriend who was suffering from breast cancer in 2012. The song titled A Match in the Water was part of Pierce’s third album the Veil, Collide with the Sky. Vic Fuentes is known for writing songs inspired by the lives of his fans.
